I am honored and excited to be your 2015-2017 AAPSE President. As a 5th generation rancher in the state of Texas, with more than 39 years of pesticide regulatory and education training experience, I feel confident that I can help make the APPSE organization more relevant and stronger for membership nationwide. I look forward to working alongside each of you through open communication to ensure the success of our organization.
As the year comes to an end I wanted to provide an update of current activities and upcoming events we have planned.
Certification and Training Proposal Comments
Kerry Richards, AAPSE President elect is working on AAPSE’s comment to the proposed C&T regulations. The final comments will be shared via the AAPSE listserv.
As you know, voting for the membership referendum was held September 25th through October 9th and was successfully passed with 91% of those who voted supporting the referendum. AAPSE committees are hard at work updating and changing our membership bylaws to reflect the change.
2016 AAPSE National Workshop
Our 2016 National Workshop will be held in Roanoke, Virginia September 6 -8, 2016. We are hosting a 2- ½ day conference that will include tours and professional development activities for new and experienced personnel engaged in pesticide safety education programming. We appreciate your participation and attendance at the conference.
The planning has begun and discussion topics are sure to include new WPS regulations and facilitatingapplicator compliance and proposed Certification and Training (C&T) regulation changes. We have AAPSE business too. We will also be discussing implementation of the new membership policies.
Respectfully, Don L. Renchie, Ph.D. AAPSE President
