Clyde,

You might contact CropLife Magazine. They typically do surveys and may
have some of the data you are looking for. The contact to start with would
be Paul Schrimpf. He can tell you what they might have or direct to
someone that may know about some of the information you are seeking.

We have a collection of resources for pesticide-related statistics here:
http://npic.orst.edu/ingred/stats.html

However, I'm not aware of any tracking mechanisms that monitors
private/contracted or aerial/ground spray work.

I need help with a question

AAPSE Listserv - Tue, 2015-08-11 08:32
Hi everyone! I hope you all made it home safely and are settling in to your normal routines. I received the following question that I need help with:

"I'm specifically looking to try and quantify the overall market size for crop protection custom application in the US (in both Acres & $'s) and my approach is to try and also look at the overall proportion of acreage that growers spray themselves vs. having custom applied (by retailers and/or third-party applicators) and then also look at the average price per application. I also want to try and get a sense for [...]

Mac Horton retires, first AAPSE president

Had some folks ask about Mac Horton, the first AAPSE president. I found this after getting back from Philadelphia. Mac recently retired.

Mac's e-mail address should still work if you want to get in touch with him: mhorton@clemson.edu

PERSAUP in Africa

AAPSE Listserv - Thu, 2015-08-06 12:57
Has anyone completed a PERSAUP(Pesticide Evaluation Report and Safer Action
Use Plan) for any African countries in the past 3-4 years? What about
Central Asian countries?

I have an assignment to Angola coming up and would like to see what else
has been done in Africa.

I would appreciate the opportunity to review such a report that is deemed
acceptable(or even excellent) by USAID. [...]

Frannie:

This is probably too much info for some home owners. But many pesticide
SDS's have water solubility, soil and sometimes water half life, vapor
pressure and Koc values. These are can be compared to values that are too
low or too high making the product more likely to runoff into surface
water or leach into ground water based on soil type. In MN we strongly
encourage a shoreline buffer zone of 'managed' native vegetation to reduce
run off problems of all kinds of 10 to 15 ft . Also, a healthy thick turf
grass is one of the very [...]

PSEP List -- the sequel

AAPSE Listserv - Tue, 2015-07-28 12:31
Hello all,

Such a great response from everyone! It looks like currently there is a partial list on the Regional IPM Centers' website here: http://www.ipmcenters.org/contacts/PSEPDirectory.cfm

However, it's apparently out of date (at least for some states). So, in the interests of having a one stop shop with CURRENT info, it would be great if all the states (Territories? Canada?) could first review the information on the website above and second, provide updated info if needed. Make sure you give your website URL, most states do not have that. [...]

Mike,

You can find a database of all currently licensed Pest Control Advisors (PCAs) in California on the CDPR website: http://cdpr.ca.gov/docs/license/currlic.htm. The database does not have email addresses, just mailing addresses, category in which they are licensed, and county. We have recently downloaded the data and tallied the number of PCAs licensed in each category. If you would be interested in that information, I can send it to you. [...]

List of PCAs

AAPSE Listserv - Tue, 2015-07-28 10:26
The email circulating about PSEP and SLA web pages got me thinking about another useful list that might exist.

The NASDA Research Foundation has a current list from processing the EPA-Pesticide Safety Education Program funding to the universities. It is the most up to date list of which I am aware.

If you need that list, send your request to carol@nasda.org and explain the reason you need it. Otherwise, you can contact Jeanne Kasai with EPA and she can work with you to get the list. [...]

Richard and Steve:

The IPM Center website is grossly out-of-date. I suspect this was put there
after the USDA/NIFA list was no longer maintained. As part of our desire
that the PSEPs work more closely with the Centers, USDA/OPMP, USDA/NIFA,
and other IPM colleagues we can approach USDA about this. But it might be
just as appropriate that AAPSE maintain a list of all Extension pesticide
safety education program contacts (members or not) as a service to our
members and anyone else who needs it. So Steve if you are willing we can
post such a list on the AAPSE [...]

Legal Questions for Aquatics Category Exam

AAPSE Listserv - Tue, 2015-07-28 08:37
Hello AAPSE friends.

I am working with an AZ OPM subcommittee to update the Arizona Aquatics Category materials and exam questions for applicators and Qualified Applicators. I am specifically working on questions focused on laws related to pest management in aquatic settings including label laws.

I the interest in not reinventing the wheel I am reaching out to the AAPSE group to ask members to share their aquatics law questions. My current goal is to produce 50 or more questions for the test bank to draw from. Again, I specifically am working on legal questions about aquatic pest management. That [...]

Below is the link to the PSEP coordinator's list that is available thru the IPM Centers' website. I know some of the contacts are out of date, and some of the state PSEP websites are shown, but not all states/contacts have a website link shown.

http://www.ipmcenters.org/contacts/PSEPDirectory.cfm

For SLAs, I use the AAPCO link below to their site page that lists the state pest control officials. It takes you to a map of the U.S. If you click on any state once on that page it takes you to a list of contacts for that state, and a link for the [...]
